My name is Manda and I'm a Mrs! I was married 8/22/08! Since the wedding I have moved to a new location Nibbles Skribbles and you can visit there if you'd like. I have decided to leave my blog up and running, in hopes that other brides to be can gather some ideas or inspiration from my wedding. There is a lot of DIY projects throughout this little blog! DIY - Ribbon Wreath

There are so many fun ways to make wreaths for your wedding decor - I used the (too lazy to find link) tissue paper flowers one, but this ribbon wreath would be beautiful in any color. Find DIY instructions here!

Choppity Chop Chop!

I joined the hundreds of other brides out there who grow their hair out for the wedding and then get sick of it right afterwards and chop it all off! I cut nearly 10 inches off, and donated it to Locks of Love - hopefully they'll be able to make someone a nice hair piece with it.

I am feeling a little naked though, and my neck gets so cold in the mornings! But it's growing on me - and if I decide I hate it, it'll just have to grow back!

The best I could find of a before shot is this. It was getting so long and stringy that I almost always wore it in a pony tail.

The One With the Ceremony/Church Details

As you know, I put a lot of time and effort into the little details of our wedding. Here are a few of the details that happened at the church/during the ceremony/on the bride.

The Programs: Truly a Labor of Love

This pin was a gift from my dad to my mom - I pinned it to my bouquet to carry him with me all day.

I snuck a little bling into my hair-do, although it kept wanting to come out while I was dancing.

The One With The Ceremony

It was finally time - the moment we had been waiting for for oh so long was here. I was waiting in the room across from the sanctuary with a little view of the processional. A lot of deep breaths were needed, I was overwhelmed, a little nervous and a little anxious. I hadn't seen Mike all day - I had talked with him for a few moments that morning - and I was excited for him to finally see my dress and look - and me!

Mike's dad and aunt played the prelude music

And then it began

We delivered roses to our grandparents during the ceremony. It was a nice moment

And a hug - We did it!

The One With The Waiting

So, the ladies were running way ahead of schedule, arriving at the church an hour before we needed to, which meant we had a lot of time to wait. Unfortunately, we couldn't do much more in terms of pictures as it had started sprinkling and we had to remain hidden in the basement of the church. Luckily, we had a few touch ups to do and there were games to play and champagne to drink!

The guys arrived, right on schedule and began their tasks.

While I laid back with some champagne and my flower girl

After a while we decided to share with the guys and shipped some champagne up stairs

Then the pastor came down and said "It's time for you girls to line up."

So we grabbed our shoes and went....

While the girls were off drinking coffee, the guys were modeling at a local lake, one of the 10,000 in our state!

Next up....waiting...waiting...why do we have to wait so long, how on earth are we so far ahead of schedule! What did we forget to do? Oh well, let's play games and drink!

The One With the Girls

When we left off, I was putting on a final coat of lip-gloss before heading out to take some pictures with my girls. We decided to simply use my mom's front yard and the back yards of various neighbors of hers. The pictures on the big rock are right in my mom's yard, that and the bush are two places we ALWAYS took pictures of special events growing up, so I had to have wedding pictures there too!

My MOH and I went to school together, we have a few great Prom pictures right in this spot, so we were trying to be all nostalgic about these photos!

And to prove that we're in back yards - walking across the neighbors lawn!

I don't know what you do with your friends when you get together - but we typically go to Caribou coffee and grab a drink, I couldn't think of anything more fun for us to do on my wedding day - so we did. It was so fun and everyone came up to me to congratulate me - it was so worth it!

I recently taught myself how to do selective color to photos - I love the way this one turned out. If you have a picture you'd like selectively colored, I will do them for you for a small fee of $5/picture!

And if you'll remember, I was sick. Pink eye and laryngitis. I had been drinking Caribou's green tea for three days straight, and all I wanted was a cooler. My mom got their first and ordered me my tea, but when I made the "I guess this will do" face they brought me a cooler too!

As we finished our drinks, we headed to the church, my MOH was singing in the ceremony and needed to meet the band she had hired...meanwhile they guys headed off to Lake Harriet for some pictures as well...

Light The Night

I just want to apologize for the interruption in re-cap photos. This week is my craziest of the year at work, and today I will be heading out in just a few minutes to put on the event I spend the rest of the year planning. As my boss put it yesterday - "You're the VIP of the event as far as I'm concerned. Once everyone is there and everything is ready, I could handle things; but until that point, you're the only one with the knowledge and skill to get this Walk site up and running. Don't get sick."

The pressures on, one thing forgotten, one vendor doesn't show and we're in a screwy situation. The weather looks great though! It should be a good day.

***Find out more about the event at the Light The Night Web site . Light The Night is an evening walk to celebrate and commemorate lives that have been touched by cancer. Participants carry illuminated balloons, red for supporters; white for survivors and gold in memory of a loved one lost. In my opinion, it is one of hte most powerful visuals you can see, imagine 100s of white balloons being lifted into the air as the words "If you are a survivor, light your balloon!" are spoken. Followed by thousands and thousands of red balloons being lifted "and now, supporters light those balloons!" It gets me every-time. Find your local walk and join in!***
